![]() If you can spare the time and resources to build something like that sure, but it isn't really needed if you know the alternatives. "Panic room" suggestion above is a bit overkill if you ask me. You can also use something like the Pan Flute to put them to sleep and then just walk away. Or wear a miner helmet, although a lamp in your hands plus some combat helmet is probably wiser to mitigate damage they dish out. You can maybe place some fireplaces around, or lamps, to light a greater area before they move in. ![]() They may spawn at night, but that shouldn't be too dramatic f you have a torch and sufficient grass and twigs for more at hand. If you have cave entrances or wormholes around you should be able to move through these and lose them that way too, provided you find another exit, as they will AFAIK keep hanging around where you dropped them at. ![]() They tend to go aggro on pretty much everything: Bees, spiders, pigs, pengulls, tallbirds, goats etc., most of which are stronger than them at least in some numbers. I usually lure them into other mobs and shake them off that way. The pig lights and evergreens specifically have it coded in their own files to have a chance to ignite/be worked. ![]() Pigmen will fight hounds every time they see them, so they are actually a really good partner in that fight. There is a trick to make pigmen stay outside during dusk and night putting food into walls close to their houses, you can see it in some of the pictures in that link. If you happen to be far from base, when you start hearing the alert try to run to a place with spiders, bees, beefalos, pigmen. Here you can find some good info about dealing with them at home when they are too many to fight: Do you already have a base? Do you have the problem around your base? Or when you are running around? Seems situational, but I thank you for all the tips, bud. Look at map, and find nearest any npc, even spider will works, ooor, u know that purple biome thing, it can spawn a tentacle, it will be harder to walk there i know, but the tentacle can help also I know what you mean about them not being fun, after a while they do feel a bit of a chore as you'll be about to do something and all of a sudden wigfrids all like 'the beasts are approaching'.Originally posted by Jasonfreeman:Ok, so night, when the houndies barking (which u will hear it before they raid you) u have to prepare at least 2 torch I never want to delete any for some reason! Someone made a mod making more save slots too so you can have several games on the go should you wish. I like how you can just make new worlds with new ideas and new characters into infinity if you like. You can of course get those things from hound mounds, you could spawn more hound mounds in your world settings to ensure plenty of stuff but whenever i try to spawn more of anything my FPS goes really low so i just stay default for the sake of my poor cheap laptop! I have put that to my advantage with a veritable field of tooth traps and the blue gems are priceless to me, i use them for the chilled amulets which in summer cool you down brilliantly and you only have to wear them for a minute at a time, they also restore sanity 'chilled' in both aspects of the word. You miss out on a lot of gems and teeth certainly, as the attacks get bigger you end up with a collection of teeth a shark would be proud of. Its the blinking bunnymen that annoy me! I play as wigfrid now (tried wilson, wx-78 and woodie first) and she only eats meat so i have to store my food in chester so i dont get attacked! Extreme vegans those bunnies. In the caves i dont actually see depthworms that often, but befriending a rock lobster or two with some flint or something is great as they do a lot of the fighting for you and are really tough so dont get killed as easily as pigmen!! just make yourself some jerky to put your health back up ad you'll be fine! The game gives you plenty of opportunity to get used to the houndsīy slowly increasing the number and frequency, its only 2 hounds at first and they arent too hard to kill. I dont care who thinks thats cheating, its a game and if you want to play for fun and not get fed up and stop playing while you are still getting your feel for the mechanics of the game i say go ahead and use what mods etc you need! Thats what i did - i set them to less to begin with as i wasnt confident and set touchstones to more!! I still kept getting killed so used 'dont erase my saveslot' that just respawns you at the last save slot before you died. Once you get better at the game you will improve in confidence and can go default. If you arent sure, make yourself a world without them, or set them to less. You have many options, you could run a world without the attacks - in vanilla i dont believe there are hound mounds, but in rog there are but sometimes there can be very few - i only had one in my most recent world.
